This planter melds the ancient art of ceramics with modern day technology to create a one of a kind vessel. Each piece shows off the fragile nature of the thin clay extrusions, incorporating intricate geometry in the design. These distinct features add interest and catch the glaze in unique ways during firing.
Each planter is individually created using specially prepared natural clay which is extruded through a nozzle of a 3D printer. The 3D printer builds each item vertically with a thin ribbon of clay, creating the delicate horizontal details within the hexagon design. The piece is refined, fired in a kiln, glazed by hand, and is fired a second time. Variations in the surface and fluidity of the glaze are part of its natural beauty and uniqueness. Like any handcrafted item, no two are exactly alike.
The planter/ flower pot does have a small drain-hole at the bottom and can be used both indoors and out. The plant is not included.
